The mission of The FORGE for Families is to enrich the spiritual, educational, vocational and leadership development of inner city families through Christ-centered mentoring, bringing transforming growth to Houston’s Third Ward community.
The vast majority of the families they serve live in impoverished conditions, in neighborhoods where drug dealing and crime are visible daily, but resources and facilities for wholesome activities are sparse. Many children are unsupervised, neglected and frequently lack appropriate nutrition, clothing and school supplies. Very few live with both parents; and many live with neither parent. In many of the families, parents, siblings or other immediate family members are addicted to drugs or are incarcerated.
While The FORGE believes social rehabilitation is important, spiritual transformation is indispensable.
The FORGE doesn’t wait for those they serve to come to them – they take the message of hope, help and change to them, wherever they may be found. Consequently, their direct intervention is successful because of the personal touch they administer as transformation takes place.
