Most people in the world are oral-visual learners, learning through what they hear and see. In many instances, this learning style happens because people have not learned to read or reading may not be their preferred style of learning.
Carlos and Cornelia Miranda work with COEM in Puebla City, Mexico. This ministry trains pastors, missionaries, church planters and lay leaders to use the stories of the Bible in evangelism, discipleship and church planting to help reach unengaged people groups. Most of these groups are oral-visual learners, and Bible story telling provides a strategic way to reach them.
In 2013, the church in Mexico committed to take steps so that 456 of these groups will receive missionaries by 2020. One of these steps is to equip 1,838 Oral Bible Teams who will bring the Gospel and Scripture in oral form to these groups.
Carlos’ main role with ECO is training oral missionaries and trainers for oral mission trips. Cornelia helps those they train to envision the best way to apply orality to their ministries.
Pray for the Miranda’s as they participate in the training of missionaries to these unengaged people groups and churches planted in oral-visual communities in Mexico and elsewhere.
